This Friday (February 23), the Fest, an international film festival that is considered a sure and big plus in the biography of every film that participates in it, starts in Belgrade.
For the last ten years, the films have been selected by Jugoslav Pantelić, the selector and artistic director of the Fest.
In cinema halls all over Belgrade 108 films will be shown, and there are 17 titles in the competitive selection.
The program is diverse, says Pantelić for "Vreme", and the only thematic unit is the Fest focus, in which there are films about children and young people who face some kind of violence.
"I felt the need to have one such selection that, as its name suggests, would focus on a certain topic from different aspects, and which is of great importance for our society, and not only our society," says Pantelić.
Half of the movies are exclusive
He says that about half of the films from the Fest are non-distributed titles, which the festival itself purchased for screening. "It means that the opportunity to see each other at the Fest is exclusive," says Pantelić.
There are again a variety of films at the Fest, from Hollywood to underground, with different budgets and aesthetics. "In that sense, it can be said that it is not a conceptually limited festival and that it is not elitist," says Pantelić.
In the selection of classics, Bertolucci's "Dreamers" will be shown in a restored 4K edition, as well as the German film "In the maelstrom of sin" from 1937, which comes on 35 mm tape, and the main role is played by Serbian actor Svetislav Ivan Petrović.
