There will still be a fest, organized by students. Films by students from the region will be shown in the freed SKC and at some of the blocked faculties, and contemporary original films and classics will be shown out of competition.
After the Board of the Belgrade International Film Festival FEST decided to postpone it to September, the blockaded students announced the holding of the "BlockadeFEST" from March 9 to 16 in the liberated SKC, as well as some of the blocked faculties and other halls.
The official, competitive selection will consist of films by students from the region, while the selection of non-competition films will consist of contemporary auteur films and classics, sorted by thematic units.
They explained that this year's FEST will not be held in its regular time due to alleged "security risks" behind which is actually hiding a split in the organization of the festival.
"In fact, the board of directors of FEST was not convened until a month before the regular date of the festival, which is from the last Friday in February to the first Friday in March, and the festival still does not have an official selector." For this reason, the festival is postponed to September 2025," the students said.
There is a fear, they believe, that this is one of the possible steps towards the privatization of the Fest, which would be followed by the privatization of Cebef - the Center of Belgrade Festivals.
Students have been demanding for months that the institutions do their work, and since the institution behind FEST will not work, its work will be taken over by the students, they announced.
The program of the festival will be announced later by the students.
Program at SKC this week
By the way, the first week after the opening of the freed SKC to the public, they devoted a review of the history of the SKC in the tones of Jazz and the Circussphere game. The first SKC paper was also published.
The jazz session was by far the most attended event of the liberated SKC, hosting more than 500 people of various ages.
For Monday, March 3, they have announced the screening of the film "Young and Blush as a Rose", on March 5 there will be meetings on Wednesday - the choir and orchestra of high school music schools, on Thursday and Friday, SKC will play again (day 1: Logical error, Antistyle, Irinka, Mythical Being, Cvat; day 2: We killed the butler, Prozak, Jun, Anima, Monika starting at 20.00:XNUMX), and on Saturday the whole day's program is dedicated to International Women's Day.
