But, sarcasm aside. We distinguished ourselves with the ambition to be regional leaders, and I have nothing to complain about Vučić in that sense, in terms of ambition. Europe is stirring in the midst of the Ukrainian crisis and the Balkans, as the southern front of the long-term separation of Russia from the rest of Europe, the NATO pact in translation, is becoming important to everyone.
In this light, as a gift from Putin, as the media reports, we also received batteries for the two Miga-29s, so on Monday they flew over the center of Belgrade all day, and the Minister of Defense went to ceremonially "open" the batteries on the day when Vučić confirmed that we will not impose any sanctions on Russia. Whose electricity, I mean accumulators, his rules, so the effect of Serbian sanctions on Russia would be equivalent to blowing a candle that is already flickering in the dark.
Vučić will not, and I like that about him, appear ridiculous and scare the bear with a grid. Somehow he keeps to himself, but on the other hand, it seems to me that he doesn't keep to us. Long-term underestimation of people's intelligence does not lead to good. He has already mastered the media and everyone, almost in unison, informs us that in Berlin we "received" 140 million euros from the Germans, but they do not say that it is a loan and how much this gift will cost us.
He is especially nervous when Arab friends are mentioned to him, about which, those friends and their mutual relations and relations with the rest of the world, we will write about in the following text. It's as if he senses that this is the pebble in his shoe that will hurt him in the historical re-examination of his role in Serbian politics. There are many brothers-in-arms, godfathers and other related persons that Vučić would vouch for all of them with his face.
The review of his role in the third phase of the Serbian transition will be in the spirit of the saying that "dogs bark and caravans pass".
Coalition partner: What a front, wide front!
Did you like Đorđe Vukadinović? Ever since he was put in the same basket with "Vremen" and when he became our "coalition partner", I can't resist quoting him, even when I completely disagree with him. Quote from "Politics" from Tuesday:
"... Vučić's Serbia will hardly find itself in the coveted role of that 'cuddly' lamb that is 'sucked by two mothers'." Neither Vučić is so cuddly, nor are they sheep. On the contrary, it is much more realistic that we will be more or less deservedly rejected and despised by both, or rather, by all three parties.
Because, if one Germany cannot, or at least manages to position itself as a conciliatory factor and 'bridge' between East and West, just imagine what the chances are for this and such a Serbia to play such a role. Although, of course, no one is forbidden to fantasize and thus present their foreign policy position in their own media.
It's almost as if a ping-pong ball or a beggar going from table to table would think that they are an 'integrating factor' and a 'mediator' in social communication. Am I exaggerating? Maybe. But certainly much less than those journalistic and analytical martyrs who tried to present Vučić's unfortunate tussle between Putin and Merkel (via Kirby) as 'mediation' ('Vučić reconciles Angela and Putin'), and Serbia as a factor that will almost certainly prevent the outbreak of the third world war war.
The political heirs of those who attacked Tito's grave with a hawthorn stake, are now farcically and caricaturally imitating Tito's foreign policy. Unofficially they wink at the Russians, officially they proclaim neutrality, and in fact they are on the side of those who attack Russia and try to isolate it.
That is why the regime's mantra that 'we are staying on the European path', but that 'we will not impose sanctions on Russia', seems more than depressing and hypocritical. But, on the other hand, we will respect the Brussels 'ed-memoir', in which Russia is treated as an aggressor and accused of the 'illegal annexation of Crimea', as well as the deliberate destabilization of the neighboring sovereign state. That Russia, which, by the way, is our proven friend and with which this government, as Vučić and Dacić like to boast, has the best and most sincere relations possible ('perhaps the best in the entire history'). Although, at the same time, we "in principle" recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine ('with Crimea'). While we insist on our own territorial integrity ('with Kosovo') much, much less..."
