The students' request was again simple and the most normal: safe people, editors, journalists, do your job professionally, don't mislead people anymore
No matter how much the government lied, manipulated, blackmailed, threatened, bribed, no matter how much the media controlled by the Vučić regime tried hard to hammer their own twisted reality into people's heads, the rebellion in Serbia against the abnormal situation in the country, led by students, does not subside. . On the contrary, it is spreading.
This was also seen on Friday evening at the protest in front of RTS, one of the largest ever. It was not, in fact, a rally in front of the Public Service, because it could not be reached due to the huge mass of people - it stretched from the intersection of Bulevar k. Aleksandra and Takovske and all the way down towards Dorćol.
And the students' request? Again simple and the most normal: safe people, editors, journalists, do your job professionally, don't fool the people. The role of RTS, defined by law, is not to promote and defend the government, any, nor to persecute those who criticize it, but to work in the interest of the public, citizens who have to pay a subscription for the Public Service.
That whining, calculating, not holding grudges, placing reports on student protests, if they are mentioned at all, at the end of news programs, for the poor, under the guise of some kind of objectivity, is irritating. And transparent.
The same applies to all topics of public importance that were unpleasant for the deeply corrupt government of the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia.
At the latest after all Universities in Serbia have been blocked, or when 100.000 people have gathered in Slavia, the most basic professional ethics would dictate that student representatives be invited to an informational program on radio and television financed by the citizens of Serbia.
For the Public Service to inform the citizens of what is happening in the country, and not to do so exclusively through the interpretations of government representatives.
Three breaking news and 20 minutes of each daily cannot be self-praises of Vučević, Brnabić or Vučić, as long as the faculties in all university centers of Serbia are blocked. The celebration of all untruths and verbal persecutions.
Breaking news cannot be that Vučić is opening a new kilometer of highway, as long as performances in theaters throughout Serbia end with the message: your hands are bloody.
It is not worth wasting any more words about the editorial policy of RTS.
Just one question: does anyone still not understand something after this protest?
