Mayor of Belgrade Aleksandar Šapić stated that in Belgrade "for security reasons" New Year's celebrations will not be organizedAnd the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić said that he would pledge to Chaciland by the New Year, it will be removed from Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard.
So why now, before the holidays!? What will be left for foreign tourists who come to the capital of Serbia to admire the winter magic? There is nothing this year from Haris Đinović, Marija Šarifović, Sandra Afrika, Željko Joksimović, Ace Lukas...
The streets are also sparsely decorated like never before, there are those colorful umbrellas that somehow depressingly light up the King of Milan.
These white tents should not be removed, on the contrary, from Terazi, across the Nikola Pašić Square, and up to Takovska all the way to St. Jovan, they should be whitened with cloth tents.
Tourist attraction
When the already progressive tent settlement has existed in front of the National Assembly since April, and was later surrounded by a double metal fence, barriers were placed on the streets, even a control house, the kind that some border crossings have, electricity was brought to the tents, the settlement also has its own sound system and security provided by uniformed police, why not decorate it nicely before the holidays?
This extraterritorial fortification in the middle of a city where the laws of the Republic of Serbia do not apply should be advertised as a unique phenomenon in the world and included in the official tourist offers of Serbia.
Ćaciland should be advertised on CNN and elsewhere as the "Serbian Vatican" - a state within a state with its own army and residents, there would surely be some pop volunteer to perform the holy liturgy there with the blessing of Patriarch Porfirio himself; as a unique "party paramilitary base" on the soil of a sovereign European country; as an outdoor workplace of municipal officials; as a wild camp for students who like being in nature, maybe the library of the somewhat forgotten Miloš Pavlović has survived in Pionirski Park.
The number of mobile toilets should only be slightly increased.
Entrance ticket, boiled brandy and burger
Tourist agencies could agree with the managers of Ćaciland that foreigners are granted entry, since Serbian citizens are prohibited, for, say, 30 euros per person and the price includes one boiled brandy and a burger.
The visitors would be provided with a conversation with real criminals, including those convicted or accused of murders and other heinous crimes with interpreters for Bulgarian and English. There would also be officials of the Serbian Progressive Party to inform the guests from abroad about how Vučić defeated the colored revolution. If they had remembered in time, they could have printed a digest of his future world bestseller in Russian, English and German and distributed it for free. Maybe there is still time for that.
The exclusive offer should include "night at Chacilenda" for 100 euros per Polish bed with breakfast included.
Holiday performances for children and adults
Performances could also be held for foreign tourists during the winter holidays. Let's say "How MPs threaten slaughter", or "Breaking a camera on a television crew". The police would stop by, as they usually do.
All in all, dear progressives, wise up. Do not touch Ćaciland before the holidays. Bring Christmas to Batu, give out New Year's Eve packages to your children, organize a fair, which you do so well by the way, let the folk blare, let the oxen spin on the spit.
Take advantage of the holiday celebrations, commercialize it, so that something goes into Belgrade's coffers, provide independent financing for the beaters who are employed there and increase the daily wages of the municipal employees who are on duty there even in winter.
And for Šapić, don't worry, "security reasons" do not apply to Ćaciland, he is protected by all state power.
