The President of Serbia is "dying" in New York to prevent the United Nations from adopting the Resolution on Srebrenica and along the way labels the leader of the Movement of Free Citizens as someone who "supports his country". Why?
"The resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations on the genocide in Srebrenica will provide satisfaction to the families of the victims, but it will not bring justice and peace, which must be brought by the courts and political elites," says the "denounced" Pavle Grbović.
However, according to Vučić's standards, Miloš Jovanović does not "support his country". "Under no circumstances will I ever accept a lie about some kind of genocide because Serbs have never committed genocide anywhere," said the president of the New Democratic Party of Serbia two years ago; there is no indication that he has changed his mind.
Dragan Đilas, whom the progressives equated with the black devil wherever they went, believes that "if the International Court of Justice said that there was genocide in Srebrenica, then we no longer need to talk about it." This means that he also "supports his country".
Jovanović and Vučić, unlike Grbović and Đilas, do not recognize the judgments of the Hague Tribunal. However, PSG and SNS will be reflected in the Belgrade elections, in which the Freedom and Justice Party and the NDSS will not be present.
The resolution on Srebrenica is far from the biggest problem of the opposition in Serbia, but it is an indicator of the pariah value within it. It is an illustrative example for many other things. For example - that there is always room for cooperation.
The President of Serbia did not choose the East River as one of the pillars of his campaign for nothing. If the United Nations does not pass the Resolution on Srebrenica - which there is little chance - it will be celebrated as a victory greater than all the Karađorđe, Miloš Obrenović, Pašić and Tito combined. If it is adopted, Obilić, Albanian Golgotha and Kadinjača are mere onions and water compared to Vučić's heroism in an unequal struggle. Namely, the entire stay in New York shows "like leaving your heart on the field" against America, Germany and other proud powers, including Slovenia. And then how can a man blame him for losing?
Should the opposition get caught up in this performance? Of course not. But unlike Vučić's swindle, he must show the right to "flex his muscles" by working for the benefit of the citizens - whatever they stand for and whatever tactics they use. Mutual confrontations and backbiting only please progressives, party narcissists and no one else. This is all the more before the local elections where many of the former Serbia against violence will be together again, one way or another.
