With the resignation of Miloš Vučević, his government also fell. What will happen next? There are several options.
The first is that Vučić appoints someone as a representative, the latter reads the Nemusti exposé and the progressive-socialist majority votes for him together with the ministers. As for Ana Brnabić - it can be done without discussion.
However, this kind of Government is weak and miserable. Without reputation and authority, he will hide behind Vučić's back like the previous one. It used to be enough, it is not anymore - the student "You are not in charge" has taken Serbia by storm.
Hostages in the government
There is a possible modification here. Maybe Vučić will create a technocratic government. This would buy some time and muddy the waters by riding the wave of anti-party sentiment of a good part of the public. Here, the most important are EXPO, BDP, etc.
Those ministers-experts would end up like all similar ones in Vučić's previous cabinets. Without any political foothold, they would either fall away on their own when they let them or sink into the regime's quagmire. Everyone would hate them - the progressives because they are not theirs, and the public because they voluntarily entered Nemanjina 11 to be held hostage there.
We know where the people are.
Certainly, elections are Vučić's favorite option. He is probably considering coming out with a rebranded party. That is the People's Movement for this and that. Except for Vučić's empty monologues, that new logo is for nothing - the real people are at roadblocks all over Serbia, at Autokomanda in Belgrade, bridges in Novi Sad...
The opposition is fragmented and weak, but it is unlikely that the citizens, who are more and more on the streets, would once again agree to the propaganda terror, securing safe votes, misuse of state resources and violence that has adorned the progressive elections until now. There is every chance that this would only trigger an even bigger wave of protests. The student revolt against dahias and the support that the people give them did not just happen.
"I agreed, I'll be whatever he wants"
Lamenting about Apis, Vučić repeats that he will never agree to a transitional government. He should be trusted, but conditionally. Why? Because he will agree to anything as soon as he is forced.
How to get there? It's not easy, but it's more doable than ever. Let's say, by gathering the opposition behind the Proclamation and certain public figures in the good spirit of the students. And there's every chance that they won't remain idle either, because it's about their future.
Perhaps this will not formally result in a transitional government, but fair and honest election conditions by all democratic standards. It is a process with ups and downs and surprises. Be that as it may, he cannot be put off for long. However, it is already certain that the future progressive government is a transitional one.
