Twenty-two-year-old AM he killed in Knjaževac from the hunting rifle of the immobile grandfather, father and grandmother - both seriously ill. He allegedly told the police that he could no longer care for them.
It is not known whether and from whom AM asked for help. Nor did anyone offer it to him. Did he even have anyone to turn to? Then again, maybe it's just an excuse... Answers to this question should be given by the court.
However, one cannot help but put this serious family murder in the context of "Family Day" by Aleksandar Šapić. These are mostly poorly attended concerts on Belgrade's Trg Republike. What does this singing and plucking have to do with the real needs of families? There are none at all. It is not known how much citizens are paying for this political marketing of the former, but perhaps not the new, mayor. What is known is that this wasted money could be used to systematically solve the problems that plague so many families. Starting from kindergartens to nursing homes - among other things.
If it is established that the competent institutions made an appointment before the tragedy in Knjaževac, no one will be surprised. In Serbia, it has almost become the rule, not the exception at all. How many more families are in danger due to illness, lack of professional care, poverty?
However, instead of strengthening social services, the government is incomparably more interested in meaningless stadiums and all other forms of installation. That is why it propagates and justifies aggression, social Darwinism, denial of labor rights, insensitivity, bare exploitation, destruction of the environment, cynicism... Let no one wonder where so much violence in society and, especially, among young people, comes from. Children see well who succeeds in life and how; they see on pink televisions and what are the real family values of the progressive "elite".
For all issues of vital importance, citizens and as they show interest. What they really don't have it for, are quarrels and insolence in the opposition. That is why calls for unity, boycott, civil disobedience, and even going to the polls, without which there is no change, seem so shabby and unconvincing.
Opposition parties are not social services, nor do any of them expect them to be. But can they finally wake up and turn to the real problems of citizens, including the tragedy in Knjaževac? Because, no matter what the authorities say and no matter what they promise, it's not there.
