It's all a matter of choice.
Some people, like those from our Government, believe that it is a good thing that the Ministry of Finance failed budget for 1,1 billion euros for the first nine months, so now the budget must be rebalanced.
They call it "positive rebalancing".
Some people would suggest that, since surplus income has appeared, we should pay back some of the expensive loans we took out in the previous period.
Not our government. She believes that it is necessary to increase consumption.
Let's remember the so-called the former government was - rightly - called out for taking a billion dollars, at an interest rate of 7,25 percent. The current government took a loan of 8 and 9 percent each for the national stadium and various infrastructure projects, but there is no more public to warn about it.
Just let it be cheerful
Some people think that we should go for further reduction of the deficit, but not the people from the government - they will increase the budget deficit with this rebalancing.
That increase in the deficit (from 2,2 percent of the gross domestic product at the end of last year to the 2,9 percent planned by the rebalancing) would have been even greater if the president had not been broad-handed last year and distributed other people's money to various categories of the population at his discretion, which this year - for now - not foreseen.
Some people feel that it is not wise to increase the costs in the conditions still hot inflation.
Similarly, some people think that - if we want to increase consumption, and that in capital investments - let's go to hell, let's finally build sewers all over Serbia and purify the water that goes into the rivers everywhere.
Those people do not sit in our government.
Give me that Expo
There are people in our government who would like to spend 17-18 billion euros non-transparently on something called Expo 2027.
That Expo is so special that a special law was made about it, which takes all activities within the Expo out of the public procurement system.
For this and that Expo, the money is more than doubled in this rebalancing: from 340 to 710 million euros.
Discretionary money, who wouldn't like it.
We remember the previous idea of the authorities, when they grandiosely planned and advertised the "Serbia 2025" investment plan weighing around 14 billion euros.
Transparency Serbia then asked the Government of Serbia to review that investment plan, and the Government nicely told them that that plan does not exist.
Similarly, today we do not know who made the "Leap into the future - Serbia Expo 2027" plan, on whose initiative, according to which criteria. In the end, we don't even know if that plan exists or if it all came down to the president's tele-shop address on all televisions.
The people voted so!
With the Expo, instead of sewage and water purification - or, if you wish, cleaner air, soil, all kinds of improvements in the quality of life of citizens - the government decided on something else: for fighter planes.
Almost half a billion euros in this rebalancing goes to them (out of a total of 2,7 billion they cost).
There are people who say that such investments are necessary, and there are others who say, well, I guess the country needs something else before those planes.
These latter people do not sit in our government.
In our Government sit - and even boast about it - people who see their job exclusively as listening carefully to One Man and his Mission and Vision.
It's all a matter of choice.
We voted for such a government - and not for another one.
Airplanes and games.
