The head of the excavator in Kolubara, Goran Perišić, is in February got fired after 35 years of work because student support.
"Three months without a salary is hard, but I have no regrets. I would." did the same. If I knew everything, if I was going to go through this, I would do the same," Perišić told N1.
He added that during the three months without salary, his colleagues united and helped him.
He did not work for two months, and then he sued the Labor Inspection and the court, after which the Inspection returned him to work on April 17. However, he was returned to a job he had never held and which requires an economic school, which Perišić does not have.
"The reason was supposedly that my workplace was occupied, but from a conversation with a colleague (who came to that place instead of me) I found out that he has been working there as an excavator for three months, but without a solution. They lied that it was occupied. The inspection should come out and investigate why he has been working for so long without a solution in that responsible workplace," said this EPS worker.
He further stated: "I was educated for this, the company sent me to specializations to be an excavator. This is simply degradation and discrimination."
According to Perišić, two of his colleagues who were fired at the same time as him were also demoted. "One of those colleagues is being mobbed by an empty table."
Who else got fired from EPS for supporting students?
The commissioner of the trade union Elektroprivreda Srbije "Nezavisnost" Dragoslav Ljubičić received a warning before being fired from the TENT branch because since January 19, he has repeatedly published videos from his workplace and during working hours on his Facebook profile, allegedly violating the Code of Business Conduct.
In addition to him, whistle-blower Vesna Lakićević from Kolubara Mining Basin was also fired for posting on Facebook and supporting students.
"The EPS logo that appeared in my publication and for which I am being accused was made by students, and I just used it. And with that logo I wrote - either you are Đokin or you are a student," Lakićević said and clarified that "Đokin is the president of the union who was with Milorad Grcic", reports Nova.rs.
She added: "My posts on Facebook allegedly do not comply with the Labor Discipline Ordinance, which went into effect on January 7. That ordinance only applies to social media and employees' free time outside the company," she said.
Her colleague Suzana Lazarevic, a mining engineer, received a warning before being fired in February. Lakićević explains whether the reasons are the same – to support students or something else.
Support for students as on the first day
Nevertheless, Perišić observes the student struggle the same as on the first day.
"Every normal person would ask that the institutions do their job. I think they are right when they ask for elections, and the president now has the opportunity to show how important peace and stability are to him. Let them call elections, let them stand on the line with students, and let the best one win," he concludes.
