New economy: The average salary of 1400 euros promised by Vučić is not realistic
In order for the average salary to rise to 1400 euros by the end of 2027, the total increase would have to be about 59 percent
After "Benetton", both "Johnson Electric" and "Jura" are preparing to quit in Niš, claims the co-president of the party "Niš, my city" Miodrag Stanković. The city is threatened by an explosion of unemployment
Unemployment in Niš, it could skyrocket. The company "Benettonannounced the closure of the plant, which will leave 950 people without work in April, i.e. a total of 1400 in just two months. But that's not all.
The co-president of the party "Nis, my city" Miodrag Stanković claims that on Tuesday (February 11) about 300 employees of the company "Johnson Electric" in Nis received a proposal for mutual termination of the employment contract.
"And a large number of 'Jura' workers are worried because they have received, for now, a verbal notification that due to the reduction in sales of their products, they will be offered paid leave or a mutual termination of the contract with severance pay," Stanković said in a press release.
He said that the Ministry of Economy is obliged to react urgently because the state of Serbia has given subsidies for every workplace, while the city is responsible because it has ceded the land and provided companies with favorable working conditions.
Unanswered conversations
After the company "Benneton" announced that it will close the factory in Niš, the Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović and the Mayor of Niš Dragoslav Pavlović talked with representatives of about twenty domestic and foreign companies operating in the territory of Niš about the possibility of taking over a number of workers, Juzne vesti reports. It was not announced whether any of the companies accepted it and which.
"For a number of workers, a solution will be sought through self-employment measures and other incentives offered by the National Employment Service, in which the City of Niš will also be actively involved," said Niš Mayor Dragoslav Pavlović.
Entire families on the edge
"For many families, these salaries are the only source of income, because in most families only one of the members works, while there are also many examples where both spouses work in the same factory," pointed out Stanković.
He also said that it is necessary for the City Council to inform the Niš City Assembly as soon as possible about the numerous layoffs and to submit a proposal for measures to help and mitigate the consequences of the additional economic collapse of citizens' standards.
This crisis situation, Stanković added, also requires a comprehensive analysis of subsidies to investors, which have been causing controversy for 15 years.
According to him, the question of justification and fairness of subsidies is raised again and again, because foreign investors received subsidies of 84.000 euros and even 100.000 euros per workplace, while on the other hand we have large domestic businessmen who do not receive subsidies.
