Ranko Mimovic, a businessman who expressed interest in taking over a majority stake in the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS), told BBC in Serbian that his company's offer is backed by secured capital and long-term relations with international financial institutions.
"Our company is alone in this business, we have secured capital, I have been working with funds and banks for 30 years and we have good communication," Mimović said, adding that the eventual purchase of NIS would be "the ultimate friendly takeover" and that his intention is not to close, but to improve the Pancevo refinery.
Let us remind you that "Nedeljnik" published data according to which Mimović's companies registered in Subotica, at the address of the Chinese restaurant, in Štrosmajerova Street, actually have registered non-monetary capital of an incredible 207.3 billion dinars (1,76 billion euros) in the Agency for Economic Registers.
In that non-monetary capital, 15 tons of gold with a certificate from the famous Swiss bank UBS (Union bank of Switzerland) issued in 1966, then government bonds of Germany issued in 1924 and the People's Republic of China from 1953 were entered.
Offer for NIS
As "Vreme" already wrote, Ranko Mimović became widely known in the public after he offered the Russian giant, through the company KFT Senator Treasury GT7, to buy their share in NIS for two billion euros.
It was discovered that Mimovic is connected to at least nine companies registered in Serbia, most of which are no longer in business.
According to the data from the registry, he was or is the owner of the companies KFT Treasury GT7, KFT Treasury GT7 One, KFT Treasury GT7 Two, FIA Energy, FIA Aqua, FIA Electricity, FIA Oil, RM Capital and Eko vočtar produkt.
Particular attention was drawn by the fact that the first company from the KFT Senator Treasury system, founded in March 2023, had a registered capital of as much as 207 billion dinars. Its first owner was the Hungarian citizen Istvan Mata, who later left the company, after which the company was taken over by Mimović. In the meantime, that company was deleted from the register, and two other companies with a similar name were created by its division.
Judgment in Slovenia
One of the few active companies from that system, KFT Senator Treasury Dva, has a blocked account, while another company's tax identification number was temporarily confiscated.
Mimović is better known in Slovenia, where the local media previously wrote about him in the context of judicial proceedings, in which he was sentenced to 12 years in prison at first instance for money laundering, but that sentence was later revoked.
He was also previously mentioned in Croatia, where he expressed interest in buying the company Podravka.
