The growth of gross and net wages in the period January-September 2024, compared to the same period last year, amounted to 14,5 percent in nominal terms, or 9,3 percent in real terms, according to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics.

Median net earnings for September 2024 amounted to 75.117 dinars, which means that half of the employees in Serbia had earnings up to the specified amount.
At least that's what the numbers say. What is the reality?
In some parts of Serbia, the figures are different.

Valjevo is no better either, where the average salary, without taxes and contributions, in September 2024 was 83.573 dinars, which is 12.542 dinars below the national average.

Mali: "In December, the average salary is more than 900 euros"
The Minister of Finance was far more optimistic than the district statistics.
Namely, Siniša Mali stated that the budget for next year plans to increase salaries in the public sector by eight percent, in education by 11 percent, while the minimum wage will be increased by 13,7 percent.
Pensions will increase by 10,9 percent, not from January next year, but from December this year, Mali told TV Pink.
He explained that the Government of Serbia, through legal changes, proposed that the increase in pensions every year starts on December 1st, not January 1st.
Mali also said that the state currently has 600 billion dinars in its account, or about 5,5 billion euros, which makes it a liquid, stable country.
According to him, the average salary in Serbia in August was 825 euros, and in December it will be more than 900 euros.
The plan is for the average salary to exceed 2025 euros in December 1.000, and to be 2027 euros in 1.400, he said.
The minimum wage will be increased to 53.592 dinars, or 457 euros, and for the sake of comparison, it was 2011 dinars in 15.700, during the time of the former government. With the increase from December, the average pension in Serbia will be 436 euros, while in 2012 it was only 202 euros, he said.
Mali said that the budget for the army is the largest so far, as well as for agriculture, for which 150 billion dinars or 7,5 percent of the total budget is earmarked, it was announced on the Instagram account of the Serbian Progressive Party.
