The director of Srbijagas, Dušan Bajatović, confirmed that tonight the final talks between the law offices representing the Serbian Oil Industry and the American offices of OFAC will be held.
Dušan Bajatović told Radio and Television of Serbia that there are two possible legal processes - delisting and licensing.
He assessed that delisting is unrealistic because NIS would not suffer sanctions, and such a decision must also go through the procedure of the US Congress, which is why the second option, licensing, is more realistic.
"You have examples in Europe. Gazprombanka was allowed to carry out certain activities, it is large enough to not stop the supply, primarily of gas, because oil is under full sanctions as far as the EU is concerned. You have the example of Rosneft. It is about oil that covers 12 percent of the German market and they have not yet replaced any ownership structure," Bajatović explains.
The talks work so that OFAK asks questions, and NIS answers, said the director of Srbijagas.
Bajatović stated that a potential problem is the bankruptcy of NIS and that this would create procedural and financial problems, but that there is a possibility of dinar transactions.
He states that Serbia has oil reserves for 90 days, and that NIS certainly has derivatives for the Serbian market until May.
"If you add it up, we have 180 days without direct consequences." There won't be any buckets," Bajatović pointed out.
He repeated that there will be no nationalization of NIS.
