Chairman of the Board of Directors Associations of independent electronic media (ANEM) and member Permanent working groups for the safety of journalists Veran Matić he pointed out that the verdict by which the editors of the portal Večernje novosti Andrijani Nešić bans editorial work for a year precedent.
In his statement to Dnevnik Television Nova S, Matić stated that until now we have had situations where terrible slander campaigns were conducted and hate speech against those who think differently, but that we have never had a verdict like this.
As he added, it was mentioned that she was forbidden to work journalistic by work, which is not true, but the ban refers to editorial work. According to him, she bears a greater degree of responsibility for the texts of other authors, that is, she is the one who gives tasks to other journalists.
"For a long period of time, they slandered Zdenko Tomanović, who is the prosecutor in this case, with lies, misinformation, terrible hate speech... That's not all, such slander has resulted in terrible threats to Tomanović and his family, for liquidation, because he was already demonized as an enemy of this society, and that's why he sought justice in court," emphasized Matić.
Code violation
He noted that a series of violations, from the Code to a series of criminal acts, were committed in the reporting of Novosti, and that they do this every day against numerous other people, dissenters, apparently on the orders of the authorities.
Matić also reminded, for example, that Judge Đorđević sued Krik and asked for a ban on journalistic work and prison sentences for data collected from publicly available data.
"KRIK and Večernje Novosti cannot be compared, but there is a possibility that this precedent will be used in cases of professional journalists, which would be absolutely inadmissible," said the president of the ANEM Board of Directors.
Hate speech must stop
Dozens and hundreds of people, as he underlined, are exposed to hate speech and discredits every day and this must be stopped.
"Is it possible to stop this with this kind of criminal policy? I don't think it's possible. I don't believe that this verdict will survive at a higher instance, and I don't believe that the defendant will stop doing editorial work, regardless of how it will be managed in the systematization. She performs a job that is not journalistic, but propaganda, and I don't believe that anyone will give her up in this case," said Matić.
