After 26 intoxicated people, including 12 children under the age of 15, were admitted to the VMA on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the police filed a misdemeanor report against the organizers of the party in the Belgrade nightclub, reports RTS.
Among the typical children at the VMA, some had as much as 2,8 parts per thousand of alcohol in their blood.
The report was submitted by officers of the Stari Grad Police Station, who together with Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade they continue to work on this case, but it is not precisely specified against whom. The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed for Tanjug that pre-criminal proceedings are ongoing and that all the circumstances are being established.
The "Sinner" club, where the minors got drunk, announced that they had nothing to do with the mentioned events, and that the club was rented for a private celebration.
What punishment is adequate?
Lawyer Marko Pantić told "Vreme" that from his experience, a prison sentence would hardly be effective.
"Even if responsibility is established, it is more likely that a suspended sentence could follow, that is something that is realistic in my opinion. But it does not mean that under public pressure, the punishment could not be a little more severe."
Speaking about the problem of selling alcohol to minors, he says that this is a problem that should be solved systemically, not through the judiciary.
He explains that in this situation, we should first see what was in their body, because now everything is at the level of speculation. Then see if the club is rented or not, and if so, who brought the drinks or whether the drinks were club drinks. When all the facts are established, then see if there can be criminal liability.
"If it were determined by the findings that it was not alcohol in the sense of a drink and if it were determined who did it, that person could be held criminally responsible," concludes our interlocutor.
What do the doctors say?
The former head of toxicology at the Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Dr. Dragan Joksović, told N1 on this occasion that the consequences of poisoning can be numerous and that the hospital recovery itself can last a day or 10 days.
Since the young people who poisoned themselves in the Siner club had up to 2,8 parts per thousand of alcohol, and that according to the media, there were as many as 33 of them, Joksović says that this is not very common for this time and that it is the end of the school year earlier. was a problem - when the prom nights are celebrated. In those days, the ambulants were full of 14-15-year-old children.
He emphasized that 2,8 per thousand according to world indicators is enough because 2,5 is already an alcohol concentration that can cause serious problems. In addition, children are much more sensitive to alcohol than adults.
With the VMA, they stated that before Monday, due to the holiday, they cannot provide information about the health condition of the children who were poisoned in the club in Belgrade.
