The price of veal in Kragujevac it is 72 percent higher than last year, data show Republic Institute for Statistics.
Last year, a kilogram of bone-in veal could be bought for 1.099,99 dinars, while in Kragujevac, veal ribs, neck and chops are now sold for 1.899,99 dinars, the Kragujevac portal Presek reports.
The price of beef also went up by almost 37 percent. A kilogram of beef at the end of September last year cost 949,99 dinars, while its current price is 1.299,99 dinars.
When it comes to veal and beef prices, Kragujevac is among the most expensive cities in Serbia.
A kilogram of beef is sold more expensively only in Whisper and at a price of 1.489,99, while veal is more expensive compared to Kragujevac only in Pančevo and Sremska Mitrovica, where it costs 2.094,99 dinars.
According to the data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, which separates the prices of agricultural products in 17 cities, beef is the cheapest in Leskovac and Pančev where it costs 949 dinars, and veal in Vranje - 1.140 dinars.
In Kragujevac, the other prices of fish and chicken are at the same level compared to last year - a kilogram of chicken costs 289,99 dinars, and a kilogram of carp costs 660 dinars.
The price of veal in Belgrade butchers ranges from 1799 to 1899 dinars, and beef from 1149 to 1649 dinars.
