Serbia at the "Special Units for Weapons and Tactics" competition, in Dubai participated with three elite teams - Gendarmerie, Special anti-terrorist unit Ministry of Internal Affairs and Special Purpose Military Police Detachment "Cobra", which respectively took 30th, 32nd and 46th place.
Serbian teams competed with elite units from around the world through five demanding challenges that test physical endurance, tactical precision, teamwork and coping under pressure.
This year's competition featured a record 109 teams from 48 countries, police counter-terrorism teams and tactical hostage rescue units and military special operations teams.
The best of the Serbian special forces placed Gendarmerie, which took the 30th place, SAJ took the 32nd position in the table, between the two Serbian teams is the American San Antonio PD, while the Cobras proved to be the worst of all the Serbian teams and were in 46th place.
Serbia's worst ranking
It was the seventh in a row of the most prestigious five-day world special forces competition called "Special Forces Weapons and Tactics" in Dubai.
It has been held since 2019, organized by the Dubai Police. It represents a unique platform for sports competition, demonstration of skills, exchange of ideas and promotion of cooperation, understanding and best practices in the work of elite military and police units.
Serbia is one of the countries that has been an integral part of the competition since its foundation in 2019. In this connection, it should be noted that this was the worst ranking of Serbian elite units ever. However, 109 teams participated in the competition this year, the most ever.
In 2023, SAJ of Serbia took a high fourth place, but then out of a total of 52 teams. A year earlier, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was in sixth place out of only 33 teams.
Last year, the units of Serbia took 21st, 31st and 35th place, while in the first year of the competition SAJ took 19th place out of 49 participants.
What does the rest of the table look like?
The first and second place went to the units from Kazakhstan, the team "Kazakhstan C" took the first place, and "Kazakhstan A" took the second place. The third place went to "China Police team C" from China.
Among the top ten are, among others, special units from Russia, Rwanda, Thailand, as well as one each from China and Kazakhstan.
Of the countries in the region, Montenegro was ranked the best, in 26th place, with its Special Police Unit. The SAJ of Republika Srpska took 53rd place, while the Special Police Unit of Bosnia and Herzegovina is in 98th out of 109th place in the table.
