There is an epidemic of psychological problems among children and young people in Serbia. The data are alarming, and the main problem is that parents, schools and society do not recognize it in time, says neuropsychologist Aleksandra Savić Parojčić for "Vreme".
One in five teenagers in Serbia he has mental problems. 27 percent of them experienced it Domestic violence. As many as 4,5 percent attempted suicide.
Those figures from a new study by the Institute for mental health, of the Faculty of Medicine and Philosophy in Belgrade, went almost unnoticed even though they are alarming.
"In the end" happyfamilies we have unhappy children who grow up in conditions of inharmonious family relations, often witnessing scenes of intolerance and violence", says neuropsychologist Aleksandra Savić Parojčić from the Center for Mental Health of Children and Youth for the new issue of Vremena (on newsstands from Thursday, October 16).
Early recognition problem
Savić Parojčić says that parents, and then the school and society, notice the first signs early psychological children's discomfort.
"There are two possible reasons, one is insufficient information, which is why parents do not know what to pay attention to. The other is insufficient attention to their own child, i.e. his psychological problems. A parent will ask a child who has come home from school what he is up to, thinking about grades, more often than about his experiences and feelings," she says.

If it is not noticed in time, the problem only grows. At a later age, it can be manifested by some social pathology - abuse alcohol, substances, betting shops, says our interlocutor.
One pedagogue per 600 students
"This trend cannot be influenced, but must be influenced, especially through preventive work in the field of mental health of children and young people," she says and criticizes that schools in Serbia employ only one psychologist or pedagogue for every 600 students.
"Although 50 percent of mental health disorders manifest themselves before the age of 18, and 75 percent before the age of 24, only 30 percent of young people receive intervention in time," adds Savić Parojčić.

Aleksandar Vučić is carrying out an unannounced coup d'état. It's for nothing. He has no defense against the demand for justice.
