The state has come up with the idea that when it comes to reports of bombs in schools, it imposes the responsibility for the safety of children's lives on people who are neither experts in it, nor have they ever decided to do it, that is, educational workers. This is a brief evaluation of the Union of Education Workers' Union of Serbia (USPRS) of the Protocol on actions for schools and kindergartens in the event of a report of planted explosive devices.
The announced protocol plans to train employees in pre-university and university education institutions, which would include access control measures, preventive inspection of the premises of the institution, as well as the definition of a safe place. The training would be conducted by police officers in accordance with a special plan and program.
A grotesque decision
Professor of Serbian language and literature and spokeswoman for the Branch Union of Educational Workers of Serbia Nezavisnost Vesna Vojvodić Mitrović told the portal "Vremena" that it is a dangerous intention of the authorities to impose responsibility for the safety of children's lives on others.
"Transferring the burden of responsibility for security to employees in kindergartens, schools and colleges through instant training is the last act of the grotesque, whose explosive force of the paradoxical, ridiculous and terrible shows the collapse of the moral compass of the authorities in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior," he told "Vreme". professor of Serbian language and literature and spokeswoman for the Branch Union of Educational Workers of Serbia Nezavisnost Vesna Vojvodić Mitrović.
The following shows how revolutionary the educators are and how absurd all this has become. Vojvodić Mitrović points out that it might be "faster and cheaper for teachers to be trained to unclog sewers and change carpentry in the school at the same cost..."
"Since the current Minister of Education stated on December 12 that the Prime Minister and her cabinet gathered representatives of the two ministries who have been working for two days on harmonizing the protocol on the details that will be available to school principals and other teams, the public cannot help wondering how it is possible that we have been waiting for the 'epochal' document for a year and a half, and the authorities are still buying time for a small amount," Vojvodić Mitrović points out.
According to her, despite the fact that the circumstances, the seriousness of threats, and the official standards of security assessments have not changed since May last year, we are witnessing a drastic decline and devaluation of procedures in high-risk situations.
Protest in Zemun High School
In a letter to the public, a group of professors from the Zemun Grammar School refused to attend the training announced by the MUP, which concerns employees in pre-university and university education institutions, which would include "access control measures, preventive inspection of the premises of the institution, as well as the definition of a safe place, according as a model for the positive experiences of countries that have a similar problem".
"Regarding the quoted statement, we are protesting and wondering what kind of special plan and program it is, and before that, according to our knowledge, employees in education were not part of the working group or body that adopted such a plan."
At the same time, we wonder why 2500 police officers, hired to secure all schools in Serbia, to which attention is drawn in the announcement, do not complete the planned training, and with the aim of quick response by persons who are already competent in the field of safety and child protection," it is stated. in a letter, announced N1.
