In cities across Serbia, students and pupils are organizing protests on Sunday (January 19) as a sign of solidarity with to many educators which will stop working on Monday, the day the second semester begins.
On the eve of the beginning of the second semester, students come out in front of the Ministry of Education in Belgrade at 16:XNUMX p.m. to support the educators who are announcing a work stoppage.
The action called "School class in the last hour" will cover the following cities: Belgrade, Niš,
Novi Sad, Požarevac, Zaječar, Subotica, Loznica, Uzice, Bor, Valjevo, Bogatić, Kraljevo,
Guču, Vranje, Šabac, Mali Zvornik, Kruševac, Ćićevac and Brus, according to the press release of the informal organization "Students in Blockade".
"The goal of this initiative is to provide support to educators throughout the country and to include all parts of Serbia in the joint struggle that is currently being waged. The duration of the action is symbolically 45 minutes, like the length of a school lesson. The message is clear: education is the foundation of every society, and its violation represents the theft of the future and intellectual freedom," the announcement states.
They add that they invite all citizens, pupils and students to find the nearest location for the action and with their presence support the educators, students and young people who
fight for dignity and justice in education and society.
"We support those who, through their actions, have led us to the path of true conscience, academic integrity and consistent determination," the "Students in Blockade" say.
The student protest was scheduled after the announcement of a large number of secondary and primary school teachers that they will suspend classes on Monday, January 20, dissatisfied with the agreement of the representative unions with Prime Minister Miloš Vučević.
Place and time
The protest will also begin in Kruševac at 16:16 p.m., on Actors' Square, then in Bor in the park near the student dormitory, as well as on Partizana Square in Užice. The protest is scheduled for XNUMX pm in Valjevo (Valjevo High School).
In Požarevac, too, the protest will begin at 16 p.m., in the City Park. At the same time, the protest will begin in Loznica, near Vukovo dom, as well as in Šabac near the city library.
The meeting in Vranje will begin at 16:16 p.m. at the city library, and in Guča, at the same time, at the Trumpeter Monument. The gathering starts at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. in Mali Zvornik (Trg near Spomenik), Ćićevac (Youth Square) and Bogatić.
In Zaječar, the gathering will begin at the High School Center at 17:16.30 p.m., and in Subotica in front of the Sports Hall at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
The meeting in Brus starts at 18 pm, and at the same time the protest will start in Kraljevo (Kraljevo City Council) and Inđija (Slobode Square).
Protest in three locations in Niš
Later on the same day, students in Niš will organize a protest gathering at three locations in the city from 16 p.m. - at the intersection near the Office, at the Bridge of Youth and at the roundabout near the market on Trošarina.
After that, it is planned that everyone will go to the Basic Court and the National Theater. As reported by Juzne Vesti, the protest is being held under the name "The chase has started... you too" because of the attempted murder of a student of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade and an attack on students of this faculty, Juzne Vesti reported.
Staying at all three locations for up to an hour and reading letters during the duration of the blockades of all locations. The planned meeting time of all three groups is at 17:20 at the intersection near the Basic Court.
From 17:30 p.m., mail will be delivered to the victims in Novi Sad with a 15-minute silence - according to the Informal Group of Students.
Protest scheduled in Kragujevac
The students of the University of Kragujevac invited their fellow citizens to join them on Đački trg in front of the First Kragujevac High School on Sunday, January 19, at a protest in support of educators. The protest starts at 16 p.m.
As they stated in the invitation, exactly at 16:16 is the "beginning of class". At 25:15 there will be XNUMX minutes of silence for the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy.
At 16.40:XNUMX p.m., the reading of the letter to educators is scheduled, followed by the "end of class". The slogan of the protest is "absence is not justified".
Protests were held in Novi Sad and Čačak
Students from Novi Sad secondary schools are organizing a public lesson on Freedom Square in Novi Sad on Sunday. They are also supported by students blocking the University of Novi Sad.
Residents of Novi Sad, pupils and students held a fifteen-minute silence at the Futoška market, which began, as before, at 11.52:XNUMX a.m., in honor of the victims at the Novi Sad train station. After that, in the organization of high school students, they headed to Freedom Square, where a public lesson for high school students was planned.
About a thousand gathered paid their respects to the victims of the fall of the canopy at the railway station, portal 021 reports, stating that the gathering took place without major incidents, reports FoNet.
Actor Radoslav Rale Milenković, playwright and director Minja Bogavac and writer and satirist Aleksandra Filipović will speak at the public class for high school students.
After the public class, a walk is planned to the School Administration of the City of Novi Sad at Mihajla Pupin Boulevard 6.
Pupils and students of technical faculties in Čačak also took to the streets. The gathering started in front of the FTN at 11.30:XNUMX a.m., from where the walk started to the Gymnasium, where the column met with the graduates.
After 15 minutes of silence in memory of the victims at the railway station in Novi Sad, the walk through the city streets began.
