In Ratina nearby Kraljeva the owners of plots protest, who suffered damage to their crops due to the construction of the Moravian Corridor, and demand that they be compensated. The workers of the company engaged in the construction of the corridor released water from tanks in full force on people who were standing, and one woman was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.
People from around Trstenik gathered at the protest in Ratina, who say that they suffered damage to their crops and that they can no longer cultivate the land.
"We are here and we will persevere. We are asking for compensation for the damage done to our agricultural crops," said Ljubiša Zdravić from Medveđa.
He also described how the incident with the tanker occurred.
"In addition to our good will and decency, the workers of this company that is building the corridor, released a tank full of water under high pressure on us, the woman got injured and is in the hospital. We have been standing between the construction site and the road for days, no one warned us that the tank was going to do that, they tried to release water from the front, then they turned it around and released it under full pressure. It lasted for a few minutes, just a stream of water, and everything around it for 10-15 minutes," said Zdravic.
Lawyer Milan Đorđević, who represents them, says that this is why the complaint has already been filed and believes that there are elements of a criminal offense.
"I saw everything, before that we were notified that a truck had to pass, people didn't allow it because then the protest loses its purpose. They protest peacefully. We got a warning that the truck had to pass. Then a tanker came from the other side and started dousing the people, women suffered the biggest blow, one fell unconscious. I don't know if the police didn't see it and didn't react," he said.
The lawyer says that the land disputes started in 2023 when the damage occurred.
"We started the proceedings quickly, the proceedings are prolonged with a tendency to last who knows how long. People are forced to divert their attention in this way," says lawyer Đorđević.
