Representative trade unions in education announced that they will continue negotiations with the Government of Serbia and that they will stop the educational strike from January 20, reports N1.
If their demands are not met, the representative trade unions will call on their members and workers in education to continue with by strike, it was announced.
They also stated that they support the students' demands.
Martin Mihailović from the Union of Trade Unions of Serbian Educators said earlier what are the demands of educators.
"We are negotiating some amendments to the Special Collective Agreement valid for secondary schools. These changes and additions should provide us with everything we have been asking for until now, namely that workers who do not have a standard in one institution will more easily get all the other standards in that one school, that they will have priority over the others. Also, that we have a guarantee that the basic salary of a teacher or an employee with the VII degree in education will have to be equal to the national average", said Mihailović.
Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said earlier that the Government's proposal is that during the year 2025 there will be two five percent salary increases for teachers, in March and October.
"The Government's proposal, in agreement with the President, is that we have two salary increases for teachers this year, 2025 - the March salary to be increased by five percent and the October salary by five percent," said Vucevic.
He added that in January 2026, there will be a seven percent increase for educators as well as for others in the public sector. As he stated, with an 11 percent increase in January 2025, two increases in March and October, and an increase in January 2026, teachers' salaries will be increased by 31 percent in 13 months.
