Vučić says that a "terrorist act" took place in Ćaciland
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, called the incident in front of the parliament in the center of Belgrade, in which one man was wounded and another arrested for an attack on a tent settlement of supporters of the government, an act of terrorism.
At the ceremony on the occasion of the signing of the contract for the allocation of funds for the purchase of country houses, Vučić said that he would have to leave the meeting because of a "terrorist act in front of the Serbian Parliament" and added that he would have to "deal with some other things during the day".
Lončar: The injured person's injuries are too serious
Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar said that the case of the man who was wounded in front of the Serbian Parliament was "extremely difficult".
"I talked to the man who was shot and an attempt was made to set him on fire. He is now going to the operating room, the bullet went through his groin. The patient says he never saw the man who shot him," Lončar pointed out.
The Minister of Health pointed out that several shots were fired in front of the National Assembly.
"The man shot several times and when he was not satisfied with how many people he had shot, he wanted to set them on fire and started a fire. The injured person's injuries are too serious, I hope he will survive. Have we come to the point that, just because we have people who think differently, they can get hurt. This is the last warning for all of us and it must not happen again, we will get into too serious problems," concluded Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar in an extraordinary address to the media at the Emergency Center Clinical Center of Serbia.
How did it all begin?
The first information that reached the public said that there was a big fire in the camp in front of the Serbian Parliament.
One of the tents set up on the plateau between Pionirski Park and the Parliament building was on fire.
As "Vremenu" confirmed, firearms were also used, but it is not known how these two incidents are connected.
The police are on the ground and an investigation is being carried out.
According to the "Vremena" reporter, two teams of firefighters are at the scene of the fire.
One of the policemen who secures the Serbian Parliament told the "Vremena" reporter that everything happened around 10 am.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Witness: The fire spread quickly, shots were heard
One of the citizens who witnessed this fire is Aleksandar Weisner, he says that it came from the direction of the Church of Saint Mark.
"As I approached the intersection, I saw smoke, and very quickly that smoke was getting bigger. It was completely clear that it was slowly spreading, and that those present could not control its spread. Then numerous guys started running out of those tents and running away from the fire. It seemed in those first moments that no one was fighting the fire," Weisner told Vreme.
He adds that the traffic officers who regulated traffic at the intersection near the Serbian Parliament did not even pay attention to the fire at the beginning.
"At first they looked at it as if it was a small fire. Soon everything started to boil and open flames appeared, and shots were heard. It was obviously some kind of ammunition," says Weisner.
He adds that only after that, the present policemen started to push curious citizens away and prevent them from approaching the place where this incident took place.
