Today, more than ten trees were cut down in Košutnjak, which were then pulled out by a tractor without license plates. Three workers do not have official suits. They say they have the logging order, but it was left in the van that broke down. This is just one in a series of incidents with suspiciously cut trees
Today it is in the Košutnjak Forest Park more than ten trees were cut down, and a tractor without license plates pulled them out of the forest and transported them not far from the cutting site.
There is no notice posted on the spot about the works in the forest, and there is no tape to warn the citizens that the works are in progress.
The three workers who cut down the trees were not wearing official uniforms, nor any markings that would indicate whether a public company was hired for this felling. When a FoNet reporter asked one of the workers if they had a logging order, he said they did, but he stayed in the van that broke down.
The worker used a mobile phone to call someone he said was a forester, who stated that everything was fine and that the worker had a cutting order on site.
Dejan Jovanović from the informal citizens' association "Battle for Košutnjak" told FoNet today that the association will have more information about today's logging in the coming days.
"In the previous few days, we were called by upset citizens reporting the cutting of trees in other parts of Košutnjak, because they thought it was illegal work, but luckily it turned out that it was sanitary cutting," said Jovanović.
Epidemic of felled trees
This is another in a series of incidents in which trees are cut suspiciously.
Recently, a part of the wooded area between Dubočka and Aleksandra Borodin Street in Stara Bežania was cut down, and according to unconfirmed information from local residents, the building permit for a building that has been standing unfinished for years on a nearby plot is being changed.
According to the locals, the forest is more than 80 years old and was once under protection.
Sergej Nikolić, a resident of that settlement, told "Vreme" that all played out in just a few days, at the end of July.
"An area of about a hectare of land was destroyed, which is not a small material or environmental damage. Characteristic of this whole process of cutting down the forest was that the excavators appeared overnight and cut everything in just a few days. The excavators worked at full speed and in a day or two, the entire forest disappeared," said Nikolić.
According to him, there was no announcement about the cutting of the forest, nor was there any investor sign posted.
One hundred trees cut down near "Beo Shopping Center"
A little earlier, the trees were cut down in the area behind "Beo Shopping Center" in Belgrade, at Vojislav Ilića Street 141. A satellite image of this place shows that there were close to a hundred trees.
"That upset the neighbors, because there was no announcement, and the lot has been abandoned for thirty years. I'm not sure what is being done other than construction machines clearing the grounds of trees. It looks like preparations are being made for the construction of buildings," said Miloš Vučković from the Association "Naša mesna zajednica" for FoNet.
Vučković pointed out that there is no urban plan for this lot, nor has any construction permit been issued.

Even thirty years after the great slaughter in Srebrenica, it is obvious that many people in Serbia still do not understand what happened there.
