Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Pazar filed an indictment against five more people due to "reasonable suspicion" that on July 29, 2025, in front of State University, attacked the police officers.
If they are found guilty, they face three to 10 years in prison.
They are accused of having attacked on July 29, in front of the State University police officials, by throwing stones, bottles and a water balloon at them, and one with a chair. Four of the defendants defended themselves in front of the prosecutor by remaining silent, while one denied the commission of the crime he was charged with.
As evidence in the court proceedings, the prosecutor's office proposed video footage from the protest in front of that higher education institution, FoNet agency reported.
11 people already charged
It is recalled that at the beginning of December, the Basic Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against 11 persons on suspicion that, at the same protest, they attacked members of the Police Administration of Novi Pazar and Royally.
This indictment included RD, NH, Č.S, RI, OE, Š.F, LJ. M, GM, DA and Š.E, but according to Sto plus Radio's information, it has not yet been confirmed by the Basic Court.
The incidents in front of the State University in Novi Pazar occurred after the management of that higher education institution with private security from Kraljevo broke into the building during the night and kicked out the students who were blocking the university.
Because of this, the citizens of Novi Pazar and the surrounding towns gathered, demanding the police, who set up a cordon in front of the entrance to the building, to let the students back inside.
On that occasion, there were several incidents and clashes between the gathered citizens and the police, which eventually retreated, and the students returned to the University.
In the following days, the police arrested people suspected of the attack, and students and citizens protested in front of the building of judicial authorities and blocked the roundabout in the center of Novi Pazar, demanding that all those arrested be released to defend themselves.
