As of this Monday, March 3, it is working again branch of the PIO Fund in New Belgrade at 10 Boulevard of the Arts, because the reconstruction of that building has been completed. The works lasted 21 months.
Rent plus electricity
This news is important above all for over 100.000 pension beneficiaries and more than 315.000 insured persons of Novi Belgrade, Zemun and Surčin, because they will no longer have to cross the river to Dorćol, to 31 Vanizelos Street where the branch was temporarily moved, but also for the PIO fund itself, because it will no longer have to pay a monthly rent of 48.477,36 euros, which is close to 60.000 euros with pedeve.
Apart from this cost for the space, and according to the contract signed by Relja Ognjenović, director of the PIO fund, with the company "Marneks W", about 449.500 dinars were also paid for electricity per month.
The Novobeograd branch has been on Dorćol in Vanizelosova since the end of April 2023. According to the original plan, it was supposed to return to its building after 13 months, but the works dragged on for 21 months.
Ognjenović
Transparency Serbia filed a complaint against the director of the PIO fund when he used the fund's official website for the purposes of the SNS in the pre-election campaign. However, Relja Ognjenović is not subject to the law on prevention of corruption because he is not officially a public official.
As a reminder, Relja Ognjenović (1990) is a physiotherapist by training. According to "Istinomer", in October 2020, the vice-president of the Freedom and Justice Party, Marinika Tepić, reacted to the news that the company "Aseko", one of the directors of which is Igor Brnabić, the brother of Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, concluded a contract during the state of emergency with the PIO fund, which was represented by Ognjenović in that business arrangement. On that occasion, Tepić pointed out that this is one of "Danilo Vučić's best friends".
At the very end of 2022, the Board of Directors of the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund appointed him director of the Republic PIO Fund.
"Marnex W"
The Belgrade company "Marneks", whose owner and director is Mikonja Rašković, pledged the lease agreement with the PIO Fund as a guarantee for a loan from AIK Bank of two million euros.
The villa at Vanizelosova 31 was the home of Vlado Ilić, an industrialist and the first mayor of Belgrade. This building with its solemn entrance porch, Ionic capitals, ornamentation above the windows represents one of the most outstanding achievements of Belgrade's interwar architecture.
