Cool the rooms
Experts advise that during the day blinds, curtains, draperies or awnings should be lowered on the sunny side of apartments and houses, and emphasize that the rooms in which they are staying should be cooled, especially if they are occupied by children, pregnant women, people over 60 years old and people with chronic diseases. health problems.
The temperature in those rooms should not exceed 30 degrees during the day, or 24 degrees during the night.
It is recommended to stay in the coldest room of the apartment or house, especially at night, and if possible, during the night and early morning hours, all windows should be left open, with raised blinds, in order to adequately ventilate and cool the space.
Turn off unnecessary devices
Since light bulbs and many electrical devices additionally release heat and heat the surrounding air, during high heat during the day, you should turn off the lights and unplug all devices that are not in use.
Wet towels can also be placed in the room, but it should be borne in mind that this increases the air humidity.
If air conditioning is used, the doors and windows should be closed and the temperature should be adjusted so that it is not lower than seven degrees compared to the outside temperature.
Fans can help, but if the air temperature is above 35 degrees, they will not prevent health problems related to high heat, but they will help to change the air more quickly when the room cools down in the evening.
