In the kitchen of Jelena and Damir, over 1.000 meals were prepared for the students in the blockade. This is the story of how the Viber group "Cooking for Students" became a great solidarity movement
"Good morning, I bring food to FMU in a big pot and so twice, I pack a ladle, the children pour and pack the clean ones in the bag to be picked up the next day", is one of the messages on the Viber group "Cooking for student".
So it follows: "Wonderful people, I received a total of 9 thousand dinars as a donation for groceries." That's more than enough to cook for 3 faculties tomorrow. Tomorrow, FLU, ICT and Hotelierska University in Košutnjak will be covered".
"Today I will make drinks for Saobračajni, and for tomorrow I would cook beans with beef ribs." Where do you suggest I take it?”
"I will also go to Farmaceutski today. I bring 25-30 servings of pasta with white meat and vegetables (they liked it the day before yesterday)”.
In recent weeks, the Viber group "Cooking for Students" has been used to share information about where food is most needed, who can bring it where, whether students have a microwave, a stove, a stove...
While students in Belgrade they did not organize to help volunteers and started making lists.
And then Jelena and Damir, members of a group that has a rural household near Belgrade, called "Relatives from the village", decided to take things to a higher level:
"Dear everyone, we finally got out of the jam, so we decided for Sunday to do a big action at our place, to try to do 1000 portions of food for our children." Since we are a family with four small children, we need help for this venture," they stated.
They explained that they have a large kitchen, and that they need help in manpower, for preparation, logistics for delivery, groceries, considering that they plan to make several dishes.
"We are located 30 kilometers from Belgrade, so here is an opportunity for a nice socializing and fighting for the right thing." We will provide containers, any other help is welcome, so whoever wants to get involved, welcome. We have money from earlier donations, we also have our own money, it won't be a big problem, certainly for the sake of transparency everything is written down, so there is no room for mistakes. Saturday will be a day for preparation, rolling the sarma... So there will also be cooking workshops", wrote Jelena and Damir.
Delighted that there was an opportunity to turn the virtual group into a live one, to be together
chops, prepares, cooks, meets and hangs out, members of the Viber group met last weekend
joined "Cousins from the village".
The children were twisting ribbons, making vanilla cakes, spreading jam, and ruining themselves in chocolate
made tupavka, and the elders chopped onions, cabbage for soup, cooked goulash in huge pots
gas pots; beans and đuvec.
On Sunday evening, 1.000 portions were distributed to all faculties and schools in Belgrade. Over 1.000 more meals were prepared during the week and the following weekend. In addition, members of the group bring meals directly from their kitchens to the students.
"Dear fellow citizens, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the selfless support and help you provide to students during these days. Your solidarity and willingness to cook and share meals with us deeply touches us and reminds us how important togetherness is in these difficult times", wrote the representatives of one faculty.
"It inspires us to persevere in our fight." Thank you for being with us!” they added.
The group "Cooking for students", which has 150 members for now, is growing like yeast from
of happiness and hope... And making arrangements for the next menu...
"We are doing this for our four young children." Because it can't be like this anymore. We don't interfere
in students' moves, we are there as support, they know best," says Damir.
He convinced Jelena to move from Belgrade to the countryside, instead of going to
Germany in search of a better tomorrow.
"In this environment, in the countryside, we are the black sheep, because we do not support the government, while most of them depend on it because they are employed in the public sector." And when there is no water for weeks, there is silence. This time, I hope that there will be enough of us to understand that it's ja or boo", says the overtired Jelena with a gentle smile, while whisking, frying, taking out the trays, inserting the next one, calmly giving the children orders, and admonishing Damir to take a break from correspondence on the group .

Not a few experts in the National Pavilion for the Expo recognize the hanging lamp "Metropolis" by the English designer Chris Jackson. One of them is the architect Slobodan Maldini
Belgrade is overheating, the air is polluted, and citizens are increasingly unable to sleep because of the heat. The lack of greenery and concretization worsen the effect of heat islands. Although systemic solutions exist, the city authorities do not react
In the past, Greece, from the point of view of the Serbian people, was mostly seen as a destination for a ten-day vacation, excellent food and some souvenirs. Today, an increasing number of people, especially young people, see this country as a new place to live
It seems that Novak Djokovic's visit to Athens was not accidental after all. The Greeks have been proudly announcing for several days that the best tennis player in history, together with his wife Jelena and children Stefan and Tara, will move to their place

The dramatic appeal of United Media employees shows what can happen when the media is controlled by the regime and corporations. It is happening in Serbia now. If the audience does not recognize this, an even blacker media darkness threatens
Aleksandar Vučić now has only the old, proven methods of classic dictatorships left, because these modern methods of insanity and poisoning the public are failing. And that, however, goes against his head
Vučić is not defending the state, but himself from the state. With a drum on his back and a guitar in his hands, this man-orchestra performs two or three of the same songs without hearing, with falsifications and falling out of rhythm. His government and politics are like that. In short - dangerous for the environment
