Commissioner Democratic parties in Kosjerić, Danijela Radovanović stated that the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure issued a building permit to the "Titan" cement plant for the construction of a waste incinerator, without a prior assessment of the impact on the environment.
"This violated several laws, including the Law on Environmental Protection and the Law on Planning and Construction. Such a procedure is not only illegal - it is dangerous for the health and lives of the citizens of Kosjerić," warns Radovanović.
She points out that citizens have the right to know, but also to decide what is being built in their yard.
"Burning waste without any analysis and without public discussion is a flagrant violation of the law and people's right to breathe clean air, drink clean water and live without fear of the consequences for their health," emphasizes Radovanović.
"That's why we demand an immediate halt to this project and the initiation of an independent investigation into the issuance of the permit. Such ignoring of the law and the interests of citizens raises serious suspicions of abuse of official position and hidden interests," says Radovanović.
On behalf of the Democratic Party and the citizens of Kosjerić, she promised that the party will fight with all available means to investigate the process to the end.
"The right to a healthy life is inviolable and no one has the mandate to sell it - not for anyone's profit," concludes Radovanović.
