It was confiscated on the penultimate day of January in Serbia the largest amount of marijuana suddenly – five tons on the property of the head of the Konjuh local community in the surroundings of Kruševac, Rade Spasojević, a well-known progressive.
According to "Vremen", the key players in the case are being transferred: the police chief who obtained the information about the location drug and the prosecutor handling the case at the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.
The main bearer of information before the shift
Police Minister Ivica Dačić and the new head of the Criminal Police Directorate, Marko Kričak, rushed to inform the public about the seizure of drugs, on whose command the raid on the drug warehouse was carried out.
However, the long-time head of the Anti-Drug Service of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia, Raša Popović, was not at the scene, whom the sources of "Vreme" claim was the bringer of information about the whereabouts of five tons of drugs, and that on the very day when he found out that the new head of the UKP Kricak was planning to replace him, writes "Vreme" in the new issue, which is on newsstands from Thursday, February 5.
Marko Krichak became the head of the Criminal Police Directorate at the end of December 2025, and previously held the position of commander of the Unit for the Security of Certain Persons and Facilities (JZO), a special police unit that came into the focus of the public in Serbia during the protests of citizens and students.
Krichak became recognizable mainly by controversial and criticized interventions and units at public gatherings. It attracted the most public attention in August 2025 when the student Nikolina Sinđelić told that she, together with a group of demonstrators, was shot by the PSE under the command of Krička, stopped her after the protest and physically abused her in the garage of the Government of Serbia building, slapped her, hit her head against the wall and threatened to rape her.
Transfer from the office and the prosecutor handling the case
The Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime announced the continuation of the investigation, but the prosecutor handling this case, Irena Bjeloš, who was assigned to TOK three years ago, has not been chosen as a permanent prosecutor in the meantime. Due to the new law on prosecutors, recently adopted at the proposal of Uglješa Mrdić, she will have to, together with twenty other colleagues, return to the parent Higher Public Prosecutor's Office from which she came and thus stop the investigation into five tons of marijuana from Konjuh, "Vreme" learns.
Her case will be taken over by one of only nine permanent prosecutors in TOK, who are already working on a large number of cases. In the meantime, the prosecutors are protesting against the so-called "Mrdić Laws", which were signed by the president of the country, Aleksandar Vučić, on the same day that the drugs were discovered in Konjuh.

The largest seizure of marijuana in Serbia
In Konjuh near Kruševac, the police found and confiscated five tons of marijuana, which is the largest seizure of that drug in Serbia. The value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at seven to ten million euros, the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic announced immediately after the seizure.
Dacic stated that Rade Spasojević and his son Nebojša were arrested, while one person is still being sought and it is assumed that he is the main organizer of the criminal group. In addition to drugs, weapons were also seized.
Rade Spasojević is a councilor of the Serbian Progressive Party and the president of the local community of Konjuh, and it is mentioned in the public that he is close to the family of Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić.
