A protest is scheduled for Saturday, October 11: citizens will gather in front of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Kraljev and march in procession towards the Žiči monastery. The reason - support Metropolitan Justin of Žička.
As previously published by nova.rs, and sources Times This is confirmed by the Synod. Serbian Orthodox Church he formed a commission consisting of Metropolitan Irinej Bulović, Bishop Metodij of Budimljana-Niššić and Archpriest-Stavrophore Velibor Džomić. The task of the commission is to examine the way in which Metropolitan Justin leads the Diocese of Žička, that is, to determine possible irregularities in its work.
Let us remind you that in July of this year, during the construction of the Saint Sava Church near Beran, Bishop Methodius honored the President of Serbia. Aleksandar Vučić With the Order of St. George the Victorious of the first order "for demonstrated love and charity towards the Church". On that occasion, he declared: "The Serbian people here will do everything to save Serbia and their mother." Russia never forget", expressing the hope that they will "unite even more closely in some community that we expect to be in the future".
However, sources close to the SPC suspect that this commission has the character of a kind of "punitive expedition" due to the metropolitan's support for students, and that he may be asked to withdraw himself.
Lithias in support of Justin
Metropolitan Justin is one of the six archbishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church who, in response to the text of Metropolitan David of Kruševac - in which he attacked the students, mentioning the "Serbian Ustashas" and the "Lubjanka" - came to their defense. Of all of them, Justin is the only one whose diocese is located in Serbia. Even at the beginning of the protest, he allowed his priests to be with the citizens, if they felt it was necessary.
In one of his earlier addresses, Metropolitan Justin reminded "that power is not given for the sake of violence, but for the sake of service, that the abuse of force cannot bring peace - it can only deepen wounds and leave a scar that does not heal for a long time."
He added: "We remind you that they are recent arrests and beatings of students and citizens which protest the wounds we are talking about. And we give prayerful support to all those innocent victims to survive and persevere on the path of truth."
As part of the believers and citizens see this situation as a potential showdown between the state and the metropolitan, there is even a mention of the possibility of holding litias - along the lines of those in Montenegro - as a form of support for Metropolitan Justin.
