The new Minister of Education's first days on the job Dejan Vuk Stankovic he will spend with the citizens, at least the one who will meet him in the morning in front of the relevant ministry. They welcome him dissatisfied professors, teachers, trade unionists, but also fighters for women's rights.
Thus, the Rebellious University, together with the striking teachers from the Pulse organization, called for a protest in front of the Ministry of Education on April 22 from 7 a.m., in order to welcome him to the workplace.
"Dejan Vuk Stanković publicly supported repressive measures, denied the legitimacy of student demands and advocated the use of force against those who defend academic and moral values," said the Rebel University.
Turn around for nine.
"Mr. Dejan Vuk Stanković gave me a seven on the written exam, told me 'colleagues turn around' and gave me a nine".
"On one occasion, he offered me a ride home, openly saying that he wasn't going that way, but that he would be happy to go for a ride with me."
"(…) In the end we left the classroom and then he said he would take me to lunch".
These are just some of the comments of female students after Vuk Stanković was elected Minister of Economy, and dozens of anonymous testimonies were published on the Instagram page of the "OsnaZene" Association.
In three days, more than 18 thousand people and more than 45 civil society organizations signed a petition against his appointment. He denied the charges and filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons for posting "untruths" on social media.
The Prosecutor's Office announced that no sexual harassment charges were filed against him, Radio Free Europe reports, and that they also stated the same at the Faculty of Teacher Education where Stanković teaches.
Vice-dean for teaching, Slađana Jaćimović, however, confirmed for RFE/RL that after such accusations on social media in 2021, "a conversation was held" with him.
As the new minister has gained a reputation in society as someone who made inappropriate comments with strong sexual connotations to female students, the protest will mark the month of sexual violence awareness in silence.
That's why the organizers told everyone who comes to wear a white T-shirt or shirt and that they will receive a blue ribbon, which marks this fight.
