Trade unions employees of public transport in Belgrade warned of a paradox in public city transport, stating that the city honors private individuals and punishes drivers City Transport Company (GSP).
As they announced, while the private consortium BG Bus Transport demands a higher price for its services from the city government, at the same time, through the annex to the Collective Agreement GSP Belgrade, bonuses for drivers are abolished, which reduced their monthly income by more than 10.000 dinars on average.
"It is a shame that the city administration finds money for additional demands of private carriers, while at the same time cutting off its own workers who are the backbone of this city. This reduction in wages is a direct blow to the livelihood of drivers and a clear signal that GSP has become a victim of priorities that have nothing to do with the public interest," said Ivan Banković, president of the union Centar - GSP Belgrade.

This approach is unsustainable.
He added that if the city government has the money to increase the benefits from the budget to the owners of private carriers, and within just a few days the mayor signs the annex to the Collective Agreement canceling drivers' bonuses, then a clear message has been sent as to who is the priority for this city management.
The GSP unions say that this approach is unsustainable and announce a further joint struggle for a better position and rights of employees and the preservation of the public city carrier. The announcement was signed by the Center Union - GSP Belgrade, the Sloga Union - GSP Belgrade and the Belgrade Public Transport Employees Union.
