The water in the Cvetan Bridge in Veliki Mokro Lugo is closed until further notice due to the danger of inflow waste water into the water supply network, the Information Secretariat of Belgrade announced on Saturday (May 10).
As part of the works on the construction of a new sewage network, the investor of which is the Construction Land and Construction Directorate of Belgrade, the street water supply network was damaged in Cvetanova bridge, so there is a risk of wastewater from the existing, illegal sewage network entering the water supply network, the company "Belgrade Water Supply and Kanalizacija" (BVK) announced.
BVK crews reacted urgently on Friday and shut off the water in Cvetan bridge.
"In situations where there is a danger that at the place of potential contamination water with fecal content has penetrated into the water supply system, it is necessary to disconnect all consumers from the street network, as well as disinfect the street network and connections, so that all consumers will be without water supply until further," stated BVK.
According to that company, all necessary activities that are foreseen in such situations will be carried out under supervision and in cooperation with the City Institute for Public Health of Belgrade.
Only after obtaining the results of the analysis of the physico-chemical and bacteriological correctness of the water will the conditions for the continuation of the orderly supply of water to consumers be obtained.
Until the proper water supply is established at that location, a sufficient number of tank cars with drinking water for the most necessary needs will be installed, the BVK stated.
Consumers are without water in the Cvetan bridge from Česmica to Braća Srnić, as well as in the streets of Pavle Savić, Jovan Belić, Albert Vais, Toma Zdravković, Olimpijska, Dušan Jakšić, Sveta Nedelja, Mihajlo Kostić Pljaka, Tanasko Rajić, General Božidar Janković, Slobodan Vitanović and Old Vineyards from number 1 to number 20.
