Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) announced that the claims that the citizens of Serbia will be harmed due to the transition to collection are incorrect electricity through the current accounts of commercial banks and appealed to citizens not to fall for falsehoods that are "exclusively politically motivated".
"We repeat that this transition has no consequences for customers. In the interest of the public, we point out that the commissions that customers pay to their banks, the Post Office or other financial institutions when they pay electricity bills, will not and cannot go to the benefit of the banks with which EPS operates, among other things Alta Bank. Every citizen can decide in what way, through which bank they will pay the bill", stated in the EPS announcement published by Radio-television of Serbia.
It was also pointed out that every commission, as before, goes exclusively to the account of the bank or institution through which the citizens pay, that is, to the account of the bank where the citizens have an account, and not to the account of the bank receiving the funds.

"It is clear that the claim that EPS will be deprived of millions of euros, which was reached by multiplying the number of meters in Serbia by 50 dinars, is therefore also untrue. EPS has not, nor will it, generate income from the commission that citizens pay to commercial banks when paying their bills. In addition, the transition to electricity billing through commercial banks began seven years ago and does not mean any additional costs for the company," the statement reads.
Account in Alta bank only for collection in Belgrade
The announcement also adds that it is incorrect that the payment of all bills in Serbia will be made to an account in Alta Bank, but only in Belgrade - one of the five centers for support of guaranteed supply.

"Tenders and public-private partnerships are mentioned with an arbitrary interpretation, because in the search for some kind of conspiracy theories, the fact that the process of opening a current account in a bank is involved is being deliberately ignored. Elektroprivreda Srbije performs payment transactions with the majority of banks operating in Serbia. The relationship between EPS and commercial banks is defined, as in the case of all other companies and citizens, by the Law on Payment Services," the statement said.
