Marko Marjanovic, better known to the public as a tweeter Crystal Matt Damon, is in a "digital prison", as he describes his situation after publicly announcing the phone number of the President of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić.
Marjanović was detained on April 17, and court proceedings were then initiated against him. He is accused of persecuting Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić.
The prosecution requested a month's detention, but the court made a different decision - it introduced special court measures, which he considers to be politically motivated and legally extensible, and which he says have changed his everyday life.
"I can't use social networks, chat applications, YouTube. That's why I'm using an old Nokia," Marjanović told Nova.rs.
He adds that the second measure is the ban on visiting registered and unregistered gatherings. "So, it was introduced so that I wouldn't go to the protests, when it was happening there was still a blockade of RTS, so that's because of that. But it's not only that, now I can't go to concerts, to matches, to the shopping center. I can't go to the 20th graduation ceremony, because these are all registered and unregistered gatherings. It was deliberately written so that it could be interpreted in various ways," he explains.
The third measure is reporting to the police station, every first and fifteenth of the month. "Therefore, I have to think about when and how I travel, I have to be in Belgrade. The question is whether I can leave the country, I haven't tried yet," said Marjanović.
Due to court measures, he is no longer active on Twitter, although his account remains open.
The decision of the court panel is awaited.
According to him, the bans were introduced under the pretext of protection against possible contact with Ana Brnabić, although he points out that the process against him has not actually started.
He adds that he is currently waiting for the decision of the seven-member court panel, which could change the measures.
"I have seven judges in the judicial panel who will make a decision on my measures. I now have to wait for those people to sit down. The measures were introduced to me while the court process is going on and an evaluation of the measures will be done for three months. I hope that the judicial panel will reduce or cancel some of the measures, even if this is visiting public meetings," explains Marjanović.
He believes that the purpose of this process is to silence him.
"They achieved what they wanted, because I don't want to go to prison, because violating the measures leads me to detention. So I am currently limited to picking up my child from kindergarten and going to work. Those measures are written so broadly that anything can be interpreted as a violation of them," concludes Marjanović.
