The mayor of Zrenjanin, Simo Salapour, announced that after more than two decades, the people of Zrenjanin have healthy drinking water from the tap again.
For more than two decades, water in Zrenjanin was not correct, however, according to the mayor of that city, that problem has come to an end.
"Dear fellow citizens, as of today, Zrenjanin has no problem with drinking water. The decades-long problem has been officially resolved. The decision to ban the use of water from 2004 has been repealed, which means that we once again have a healthy and correct water supply. drinking water. Thank you, dear citizens of Zrenjanin, for your patience and understanding," said Simo Salapura.
He also announced the decision of the Sanitary Inspection Department of the Provincial Secretariat for Health, which was signed by the sanitary inspector from Zrenjanin, Gabriela Lodi.
Express solution
In the explanation of the decision, it is written that on October 9, PUK "Vodovod i kanalizacija" submitted a request to invalidate the decision of January 14, 2004.
On the same day, a decision was made to repeal the 2004 decision.
The company submitted in the attachment the reports of the Zrenjanin Institute of Public Health on the examination of samples of purified drinking water from the central water supply network, which were sampled on September 29, as well as on October 1 and 3, at 12 places in the city.
Until now, the public has not been presented with reports on the testing of purified drinking water, nor have the Zrenjanin Institute of Public Health, PUK "Vodovod i Kanalizacija" and the company Metito, which took over the water treatment plant, made any official statements on this occasion, writes the Zrenjaninski portal.
One resident of Zrenjanin told "Vreme" that they only have information based on the mayor's statement.
As he adds, in the past months they received water from the remodeled factory that was in trial operation, and the water was colorless.
It's strange when the water is colorless.
When the new water treatment plant was put into trial operation earlier this year, Milan Lukić from Zrenjanin he told "Vreme" that at first it was a little strange that the water had no color.
"You draw water at the cistern, it's white, it's not yellow anymore. You wash yourself, but the water has no color. The water is no longer yellow", this is how he described everyday life.
Then the new plant was put into temporary trial operation
Although the water from the tap no longer had color and smell, it was still not allowed to use it for drinking - until today.
Since 2004, when an elevated level of arsenic was found in the drinking water in Zrenjanin, the taps in the houses and yards of this municipality were mostly closed, and the water from them could only be used for technical purposes.
