University of Belgrade announced on Monday (May 12) that he supports the students' demands and defends their right to social engagement within the framework of academic norms and laws, emphasizing at the same time that the continuity of education is a public interest, and that it is necessary to ensure the conditions for end of the school year.
After the students, dean and rector Vladan Đokić talked about preserving the autonomy, integrity and credibility of the university, the announcement states that he sees the student demands as an opportunity to restore trust in the institutions and their true action in the interest of the citizens, considering that higher education must not be the point at which the responsibility of other institutions breaks.
"Students did not cause the current crisis", but only through dialogue and mutual understanding is it possible to overcome and ensure the survival of the university, it was stated in the statement signed by Rector Đokić.
