He pointed out that he was Rusija aware that the sanctions will bring "certain difficulties in the work of the NIS" and added that the country "will do everything to resolve the situation in the best possible way", Bocan-Kharchenko said.
In an interview for Politika, he said yes sanctions they are not a surprise and that they "accepted them seriously, but calmly, without excessive emotions that could make it difficult to make rational decisions".
According to him, the Russian embassy and Russian institutions are in constant contact with the leadership of the NIS, and the president of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić is involved every day and "keeps everything under control", which, he added, "is completely understandable because NIS is not only a matter of energy, but also of social security of the country".
He pointed out that the company took all the necessary measures in a timely manner and prepared for such a scenario, that it has enough stocks so that no serious disturbances on the market or fuel shortages are expected.
"The Russian Federation and Serbia will jointly do everything to ensure that the citizens Of Serbia do not feel the sanctions in a negative sense and that Serbia's energy security is not threatened. I am sure that homes in Serbia will be warm this winter as well, regardless of all the difficulties that the sanctions bring," Bocan-Harchenko said.
"This is about strategic partnership and responsibility"
When asked about the importance of NIS in the wider framework of Russian-Serbian cooperation, he said that it is a key company for Serbia, a pillar of the energy system and an important factor in the overall economic development of the country, and that Russia's attitude towards Serbia and the personal understanding of President Vučić and Vladimir Putin mean that "this is not about a 'drop in the ocean', but about strategic partnership and responsibility".
"Gazprom and Gazpromneft are serious companies that will do everything to mitigate the consequences of the sanctions and maintain stability," he said.
Speaking about US sanctions, he said that this decision dates back to the previous administration of President Joseph Biden, and that the current administration only continued.
Washington's position, Bochan-Kharchenko said, is clear, "their goal is to make Russia disappear politically and economically."
"It is clear that sanctions are an instrument of economic competition and the West uses them as a means of pressure to strengthen its own economy, protect its market and, in the end, force other countries to accept political solutions that suit it, which are often contrary to their national interest," he said, adding that such practice represents "a form of neo-colonial approach."
He also said that sanctions are used as a unilateral political tool and not as an instrument of international law.
He pointed out that the sanctions imposed on Russia had an impact at the beginning, but that it "managed to adapt and become economically stronger", and that the Russian economy is "today stable, diversified and prepared even for new challenges" and that the sanctions "did not have the effect that their creators expected".
