The students in the blockade and the citizens who support them continued to block the Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) buildings in Takovska Street and Košutnjak in Belgrade.
Cause of public service blockade are the part of Takovska street, Ilija Garašanin and Major Ilić streets closed to traffic. On April 19, students and citizens blocked the entrances to the facilities of the Radio and Television of Serbia in Takovska and Aberdareva Streets, as well as the studios in Košutnjak, preventing employees from entering the buildings of the public service.
The students completely changed the plateau in front of the RTS in the spirit of their activities and demands, so they renamed that area "Rector's Square" Vladan Djokic".
The gathered make noise by blowing whistles and vulvuzelas, and shouts of "no one is tired, RTS is blocked" can also be heard.
There are still student banners on the terrace of the Children's Cultural Center, and the most striking one is the one that says "Student Radio-Television".
The situation is festive and is proceeding without incident. The streets where the blockades are organized are still closed to traffic. Members of the Public Order and Peace from the Police Department for Belgrade, the Criminal Police Department and the traffic police take care of the safety of the participants of the rally.
RTS, which is maliciously forwarded Philip Schwarm's comment, reported that due to difficult working conditions caused by the blockade, he was forced to adjust the program scheme. It was also submitted criminal report to the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against an unknown person and the reaction of international institutions was requested.
A large number of students from Novi Pazar arrived in Belgrade, and as they announced on social networks, they are there to reward their colleagues and citizens of Serbia in the blockade in front of RTS, so that they can celebrate Easter with their families.
Why is RTS blocked?
The goal of this protest is to announce a new competition for REM council members or "to shut down RTS". Although the student guards do not allow entry into the RTS building at Takovska 10, some employees found ways to go to work.
"Next to the kebab shop at the back of RTS, the employees managed to get in. That's because there were only five guards there. We managed to block the rest," explained the guards.
Earlier, it was announced that a number of RTS workers entered the Public Service building through the aforementioned location, but half an hour late, which delayed the start of the morning program for several days.
The blockades of RTV and RTS started because of the way the public service reports on student protests and student cyclists who ride to Strasbourg. Regardless of the students' demands and the ongoing blockade, RTS continues to broadcast the program, but with significant difficulties.
