Security and information agency she invited more than 10 students in the blockade for a "friendly and casual conversation" regarding the military parade.
This was confirmed by lawyer Jovan Rajić, who legally represents one of the students who had already spoken to members of the BIA.
Rajić stated for the Nova portal that more than 10 students who have been blocking the work of the faculty in Belgrade for months were invited on Thursday to come to one of the police stations in the city for an interview.
"Students received invitations from members of the BIA to come to one of the police stations, since the Agency has offices in the stations. First of all, it's absurd to me and one of the main questions for the government: what will the BIA offices do in each police station? And what does the BIA have to do with this? Okay, there is a law on the Security and Information Agency, the constitutional order of the country, the security of the Republic of Serbia, but what kind of security is this?" asks lawyer Rajić.
He states that the students were asked questions regarding the military parade, which will be held on September 20 in the area around the Palace of Serbia.
Students have announced a "support gathering" for that day, but have not yet specified information regarding the gathering.
"The call was actually made because of a student document that stated the plan of the student protest. That document was circulated among the students, as far as I know, nothing special was stated in it, except to whistle to President Vučić when he speaks during the parade. There are no performances, no riots, nothing," says Rajić.
Call offensive to intelligence
He points out that the wording "friendly talk by the BIA" is the funniest in the whole story.
"A friendly conversation, then a casual conversation... It's insulting to the intelligence. The students can show up or not show up at that conversation. Those people who questioned them were correct and it can't be said that they're jumping out of some boundaries of decency. But it's very uncomfortable for the students because, I ask again, what does the BIA have to call them?" says Rajić.
In his opinion, the government in Serbia only traumatizes the youth. He does not see any other reason for this behavior.
"Maybe they invited some of the most active students for a conversation, and I understand, but they invited children who don't even go to plenums. They probably looked for some who were present at that meeting, where that document was produced. They traumatize the children, they scare them. In fact, the government is afraid, because people are afraid of everything, they see potential danger in everything and become paranoid. I would like to emphasize that these invitations are nothing new, students have been invited to the BIA before," says Rajić
