The reason for the suspension of the work of the Bar Association of Serbia is, as explained earlier, support and association students' requests as well as the violation of the rule of law and endangering the autonomy and independence of the Serbian Bar Association.
The Administrative Board of the AKS proposed to suspend work for 15 days, while the Administrative Board of the Šabac Bar Association proposed a one-month suspension, which was finally accepted at today's extraordinary assembly.
In both proposals, it was emphasized that the minimum work necessary to protect the basic rights and interests of clients will be observed.
"Thirty days of suspension with a strict regime, only preclusive terms, according to the proposal of the Šabac Bar Association. The proposal of the Administrative Board of the AKS (on the 15-day suspension of work) was not even voted on, because it won the majority," said lawyer Vladimir Terzić for the Beta agency.
Lawyers recently suspended their work for the same reasons, but for a shorter period of time than these proposals.
